Trickett Sets Record Libby Trickett broke the world record in the women’s 50-meter freestyle, finishing in 23.97 seconds at the Australian championships and Olympic trials Saturday in Sydney. Trickett, formerly Libby Lenton, topped Marleen Veldhuis’s record by 12-hundredths of a second. Trickett also set a world record in the 100 freestyle Thursday.
