Freestyle World Record Eamon Sullivan of Australia broke the 50-meter freestyle world record, finishing in 21.56 seconds to better the mark set by Alexander Popov of Russia in 2000. Sullivan took eight-hundredths of a second off the previous record at the New South Wales Open meet, held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Center.
